Episode 4 | You Know What To Do | Wedding Photographer

Regret Free Wedding Podcast by Wedding Photographer Lauren Kay Photography: Episode 4: You Know Exactly What You Need To Do

In this episode from Lauren Kay, Utah wedding photographer, we are diving into this truth: you know exactly what you need to do to plan your perfect wedding. I know the things I might want to do might not be what you want. So I’m not here to tell you what to do. I’m here to help you dive deep and plan your wedding the way you want.

You already know what you should do when it comes to planning your wedding. You already know how to plan your wedding to be the best experience possible for you and your groom.

You know those gut feelings when you just know something isn’t right? Well, those help us make better choices in every area of our life, including planning our wedding. In this episode we’re diving into what those feelings are all about and how to use them to plan a regret free wedding.

I knew we shouldn’t get married where we got married. I always felt uneasy about it but I ignored it and didn’t change anything. And later it was one of the things I regretted most. We all have those gut feelings  or impressions or promptings. And when we don’t listen it leads to regret.

Another bride said: “I MOSTLY regret not listening to my instincts. This was a marriage that ended in divorce and there were so many signs that I shouldn’t have ever gotten married. I literally questioned signing my marriage license in my head before doing it and had a migraine all day after our morning ceremony. If it doesn’t feel right, it usually isn’t. Listen to your instincts!!”

Those feelings are trying to communicate something to you. Our emotions are a gift. Sometimes there are red flags that make it past our conscious brain without us realizing it and our emotions are there to help us make good choices.

Emotion is not truth though. Sometimes you may feel uncomfortable about something simply because it’s out of your comfort zone. So it’s so important to take the time to process through your emotions so you can get to the root of them.

The best way I’ve found to process through emotions is brain dump journaling. Every day, or just when you feel uneasy if that’s all you can do, sit down, set a timer, and just write anything and everything. No filter. Then go back through and determine what is truth, what is limiting and needs to be let go of, and the actions you need to take. Taking the time to process through how you feel will help you see what is a red flag and what you can kindly dismiss.

Last minute changes may be awkward and so tough. But you can’t go back and relive your wedding day. So taking the action now and giving God the space to communicate with you and changing what you need to will be so worth not having regrets for years to come.

You know exactly what you need to do and if you’ll listen you’ll know what that is. Our gut feelings and emotions are always trying to tell us something. If we ignore it, we’ll regret it. If we listen, we can act and avoid regret.

** Homework: Start brain dump journaling. Every day if you can, or only when you feel unsettled if that’s all you can do right now.**
