Bride Guide #38 Is everything you need to know about Engagement Sessions by Davis County Utah Wedding Photographer Lauren Kay Photography.
Engagement sessions are so fun. They are also probably the only pictures you’ve ever taken as a couple! Your engagement session is a great place to have a ton of fun with your pictures and add in your personalities. Pick a meaningful spot like where you said “I love you”. If you love to hike, take your engagements on your favorite hiking trail. Or even take them right after you say “I do”. These pictures are all about you and your groom and letting your personalities shine through.
Often people go with a family member or friend for their engagements and then have a professional take their formal and wedding photos. I highly recommend using the same photographer for your entire wedding experience. When you use the same photographer, you learn their posing style and become so much more familiar with the way they do things. Then, when you take your formal and wedding pictures, it’s a breeze because you already know what to expect. I definitely recommend investing in your engagements as well as your formal and wedding photography.

Engagement Session Tips:
● Choose a meaningful location like where you met, held hands, first kissed, or said I love you.
● Throw in something you love to do. Maybe you love to hike or bike or kayak. Don’t be afraid of getting adventurous and making these personal and fun.
● Make your clothing match the season. If you are taking winter engagements, embrace the sweaters, boots, and beanie. Not only will you be more comfortable, but it will look more natural as well.
● Think about your background. Wear something that will make you stand out. If you’re going to be in a grove of trees, don’t wear green!
● Coordinate. Don’t match each other exactly. Choose outfits that look nice together but are different.
● Be careful with patterns and definitely avoid super obvious logos or graphics.
● Dress up! You might feel overdressed but in pictures it looks so cute. Accessorize, wear a dress, do your hair and makeup or have it professionally done. And don’t forget to do your nails!
● Remember your shoes, and your groom’s. Shoes matter!
● Most of all, wear what you feel the most confident in!
