Get out. This girl is so gorgeous! I cannot wait to share this dreamy styled shoot with you. Have you ever heard of a styled shoot before? I know I hadn’t before I became a northern Utah wedding photographer. A styled shoot is when a photographer or other vendor asks a bride, couple, or family to get ready and do a photo session. Usually it’s just with wedding photography, and couples who are already married often model.
Why? I used to wonder the same thing! Styled shoots are actually so helpful as a photographer. It gives me a chance to experiment and be creative, or try out new equipment, without experimenting on an actual couple. It’s also a great chance to network. Other vendors often participate too. It gives all of us a chance to experiment and hone our talent so that we can provide the best experience for you guys!
This styled shoot with Becca was literally a dream. We had it scheduled for Saturday originally. As it got closer, I started checking the forecast. It was not good. It was forecast to rain. A lot. I checked the weather multiple times a day, hoping it would change. No such luck. More rain was forecasted each time I looked. So, we decided to just take the photos in a studio instead.
The Friday before the shoot came and I was about two hours away from Logan, where the session would be. The weather for Friday night was supposed to be beautiful, but all the vendors were planning on Saturday. But as I drove back, I thought, “maybe we should just pull it off today”. I made a bunch of phone calls, and these amazing people pulled this shoot together with just a few hours notice! I got home, grabbed my camera bag, and drove straight to the session. The lighting and every part of the session was Heaven sent. I cannot thank Katelyn the hair and makeup artist, Emily the florist, Jerrick the jeweler, and Becca the gorgeous model enough. These pictures say it all. ????
XO,
Lauren
