Don’t you love when you find a pair of shoes you would be totally fine wearing every day? Well your wedding shoes may not be that comfy and they might be covered by your dress for most of the day, but they totally matter. We may not see them a lot, but they do still show sometimes. And even more than that, you know they’re there and they make such a big difference in how beautiful you feel. Plus, they are such a fun detail. I love incorporating shoes into pictures. 

 

 

So, once you have your dress, it’s time to pick out a gorgeous pair of shoes. Here are my top six tips for choosing the perfect pair:

1. Choose your dress first.

Find your dress first, then find shoes that complement your dress nicely. Keep them in line with your general wedding theme and the style of your dress. And remember to wear your shoes for any dress alterations so that your dress doesn’t end up being the wrong length with your shoes.

 

2. Keep them comfy. 

Consider your everyday style and what you will be confident wearing. You want these to be shoes you are comfortable in. Definitely. Having blisters on your honeymoon is no one’s idea of fun. Find a comfortable shoe, don’t be afraid of taking it off or switching shoes mid-way through the day, and make sure to break them in by wearing them around indoors before the big day.

 

3. Don’t be afraid of style.

We hear so often to keep wedding shoes comfy. That is definitely the priority. But don’t be afraid of still being stylish. If you’re dying over a pair of heels that are hard to wear all day, get them! Wear them for your pictures and the ceremony, then change into a different shoe for the celebration.

 

4. Add personality.

Your wedding shoes don’t need to be white. They can be whatever color you want. You can wear classy heels or comfy sandals or matching Converse with your groom. I personally love a classy heel, but it is totally up to you. Make them your personality and style and have fun with it. 

 

5. Remember when and wear.

Are you getting married in a backyard? A stiletto that sinks into the grass might not be the best idea. Is it going to be hot and your feet may swell? Are you going to be walking through the snow? Think about where you’re getting married and what time of year and plan your shoe choice and size accordingly.

• Wear your shoes when you have your dress altered so that it is the perfect length with your shoes.
• Break your shoes in before the big day!
• Bring a backup pair! Even if your shoes are super comfy, through a tried and true pair of shoes in your bag, just in case.
