Bride Guide #15 by Utah Temple Wedding Photographer Lauren Kay Photography.
If you’re already engaged, you can skip this. If not, keep reading!
You’ve probably been dreaming about this moment for decades. You can envision it. The sunset, the breeze, the look on his face as he asks you. Right ladies? Your proposal is so exciting. He’s finally asking you to be with him forever! But here’s the truth. That moment in your mind you’re envisioning? He has no idea! Ladies, you cannot expect your man to read your mind! It’s up to you to let him know how you would love to be proposed to. Here are three simple suggestions for you to make your proposal all you’re hoping for:

You may think you don’t care, but take a minute to be honest with yourself. If you have a proposal you’ve been dreaming of, don’t keep it a secret! Whether you tell him yourself or have a friend deliver the message for you, own your expectations and let him know what you’re hoping for.
Even though you may not have a specific idea in mind, let him know what matters to you. Do you want to be alone or in public? Do you want to make sure you’re dressed really nice and have your nails painted? Do you want a professional photographer hiding in the bushes capturing the moment? Do you want it to be a total surprise? Do you want him to use your actual ring or do you want him to totally surprise you and use a temporary ring? Do you want it to happen at a certain place or time of day? Think about what would be the most meaningful to you and let him know.
Once you’ve let him know what you’re hoping for, then relax. Choose to just embrace however, whenever, and wherever he proposes. Realize that this is probably the most terrifying moment of his life to date and be compassionate. It may not be a scene from a movie, but it is your story. So choose to love it, no matter what happens.

Tip:
Keep your nails painted and always opt for that cuter outfit if you think he might be proposing soon.
If it’s your style…
Use this as your engagement session! You could have a professional photographer take pictures of the moment and then keep taking pictures afterward to use for your announcements. These images are so full of emotion, they are amazing.
If you opt for this, tell your groom you want a professional photographer at your proposal and you want to also have it be your engagement session. Tell him the photographer you want and give him their contact info. Then tell a friend or family member what outfits you want both of you to be wearing and have them work with your man to sneakily throw them in his car!
