The tie and accessories are the groom’s place to add personality. Choosing a tie really is quite simple.

1. Let him have a say.
2. Make his tie different from anyone else’s, even if just slightly.
3. Is he a bowtie or a tie guy? If he wants to confidently pull of a bowtie, let him.

There are so many other fun accessories a groom can have. And I don’t know about you, but I go crazy over a sharp-dressed, accessorized guy (aka my hubby). Adding a few accessories can really dress-up your groom’s look. Let your groom have fun with these! Let him choose what accessories he want incorporate. And just like your accessories, think of ways you can make these meaningful. Maybe you can buy the perfect pair of cufflinks for him or he can wear his grandfather’s watch. Here are the groom’s accessories to consider:

● Watch
● Cufflinks
● Tie clip
● Socks
● Belt or suspenders
● Pocket square
● Shoes

When choosing your groom’s shoes, comfort is a top priority. This is a great time to invest in some nice dress shoes he can keep for years to come. They should match his belt if he has one. He should also break them in prior to the big day and make sure they are polished and ready to go.

Just like you, your groom’s style should match his normal style. Don’t worry about trying to make it too unique. I mean, brides all wear dresses. It should be something he feels like himself in and is excited to wear.

 

Grooming

This may seem silly but you need to be on the same page about your groom’s hair and beard, so talk about it! You don’t want him to show up scruffy if you’re dead-set on him being clean-shaven. So talk about both of your expectations. He should stick with whatever his normal and best look is. This isn’t a time to try a crazy new hairstyle or beard. Stick with what looks best and he’s most comfortable with.

He’ll want to have his hair cut about a week or two before. He’ll also want to plan on leaving his pockets totally empty. A phone, wallet, or keys are so obvious in pictures. Let a mom with a purse or another trusted person there take care of anything that he may want in his pockets.

Real grooms…

● Wore a dark green suit because their last name was Green and they got married on St. Patrick’s day. And it was super subtle and classy.
● Had their wedding date embroidered on the inside of his suit coat.
 
Remember…
Your groom needs a haircut about a week or two before the wedding and should not have anything in his pockets.
