They knew he was coming soon. The contractions had started but Tasia went to bed hoping to get some sleep in. But when the contractions started coming two minutes apart, Mitch and Tasia knew they had to hustle. They got in the car and may or may not have ran a few red lights to get to the hospital. And it’s a good thing they hurried! Only one hour after they arrived, baby Ledger was born into the world. With no epidural and at 8lbs 10oz, I’m glad baby Ledger came fast.
When I walked in later that day, Tasia was up curling her hair and putting on makeup. I seriously wouldn’t have known she had just had a baby! After chatting for a minute I looked around the room and saw baby Ledger in the corner by the door – I had no idea he was there! He was so quiet I didn’t even notice him when I walked in right past him.
A while later a knock came on the door big brother Cohen walked in and met his baby brother for the first time. He timidly walked in (probably a little concerned by the lady holding a big black box – aka me ????). He lit up as he saw his mama and then the sweetest demeanor came over this little two year old boy as he met his brother and held him for the first time. Once Cohen was on the bed he peeked up at his new baby brother. He kept quietly whispering “brother”. When Mitch and Tasia asked if he wanted to hold Ledger, Cohen stuck out his arms, ready for action. He just held him for a while pointing to his nose and eyes and poking his big squishy cheeks. I don’t think he’ll have a problem at all adjusting to his newest role.
Mitch and Tasia are some of my favorite people. We couldn’t ask for better next door neighbors and friends. I told my husband that when they move, we better move too. Baby Ledger is so blessed to be joining such a wonderful family. Congrats you guys!
