Alright. This is my profession, so buckle up. This section is loaded with good information. I cannot wait to share with you some of my best tips and tricks.

Let me let you in on a secret. The secret to amazing photos is how you’re feeling in that moment. Pictures are really just a reflection of how you feel. They capture emotions, not just what you see. Isn’t that why you love pictures from vacations? It doesn’t matter that your hair is blowing in your face and is knotted from the ocean breeze. You love that picture because you loved the way you felt in that moment.

If you are happy when you take your pictures, you will be happy with them. That is why I care so much about helping you create a beautiful wedding day and not just capturing it.

So, beautiful wedding photography starts with you. Your wedding pictures will be as beautiful as you make them by how meaningful you make your day.

Invest in a Professional

Invest in high quality photography. Please. Obviously I’m a photographer so I would say that. But if you have to trade off something because of your budget, don’t let it be your photography. Here’s why. Your great grandkids are going to look at these. These are the pictures that will hang on your wall forever. It’s the photographer who captures all the moments and all the details you have paid so much for and invested so much time into. The flowers die, the decorations get taken down, the moments pass. Loved ones even pass away. The photographs, though, live on. Please invest in them.

I am definitely not the wedding photographer for everyone. As a UT Wedding Photographer I truthfully believe that! That’s why I consult with every bride before they book with me. I want to make sure I am the right fit for you and your groom before you commit to anything. Your photographer is the person most intimately involved in your wedding day besides your groom. Seriously. Who’s up in your business during your first dance? Your photographer. Who follows you around all day? Your photographer. Your photographer is there for the most intimate parts of your wedding. You definitely, more than any other vendor, want to make sure that you get along with them and like their personality.

Family and friends are wonderful. But a professional photographer can bring experience, expertise, and skill that your aunt with a camera can’t. Obviously I’m biased, but usually things that are too good to be true are. If your aunt with a camera is going to do your pictures for free, just remember to think about the other side of the equation: quality. A professional cannot only deliver high quality images but also a high quality experience. And your pictures are really all about the experience you have taking them. You want to feel totally relaxed during your sessions and wedding day. You want to feel beautiful and confident in front of the camera. You want to be able to trust that they are capturing every detail. Please entrust your pictures to someone who does this consistently and has worked hard to hone their skills. Find a photographer who cares about you. Find someone who cares about your story and is dedicated to capturing it the way it should be. Find someone who will go above and beyond for you and isn’t just there to cut a check. Find someone who cares just as much about your pictures, or maybe even more, than you do. There are so many talented, amazing professionals out there who can take incredible care of you. Invest in it.
